VOLUME SIX VOLUME NINETEEN MONDAY, MARCH 31, 1947 Nearly All Employees Participate In Revised Group Insurance Plan C. W. Walker K. D. Henry Appointed Woolen Mill Foreman The revised group insurance plan be came effective March 25 with 99% of all employees covered. Those who have not signed cards as yet will have the privilege of taking the insurance without a medical examination provided they sign up before April 25. They, cf course, will be without insurance until the date they sign the card. The 99% coverage figure includes those persons who went out sick prior to March 25 and who have not returned to work as yet. This group is receiving benefits under the old plan and it is (Continued on page three) C. W. Walker Joins Accounting Dept. C. W. Walker joined Fieldcrest Mills at the General Office March 10 as head of accounting methods and procedures, replacing Carl Koehl, who recent ly was promoted to chief account ant. Walker came here from Abbe ville, S. C., where he was supervisor of industrial engi neering at Abbe ville Mills Corpo ration. Prior to this he had been methods engineer for Bur 1 i n g t o n Mills Corporation, spun rayon division Walker came here from Abbeville, S. C., where he was supervisor of indus trial engineering at Abbeville Mills Corporation. Prior to this he had been methods engineer for Burlington Mills Corporation, spun rayon division. A native of Charlotte, he is mar ried to the former Miss Edith Gallion, of Old Fort, and they have two daugh ters. The family expects to move here whenever quarters are available. Jack Rose Transferred To Research and Development in Promotions Effective March 24 K. D. Henry, formerly a Research and Development engineer, has been ap pointed foreman of the Finishing De partment at the Woolen Mill, and J. T. Rose, formerly of the Quality Control Laboratory, has been transferred to Research and Development. Both pro motions were effective Monday, March 24. Henry is a native of Georgia and graduated from Georgia Tech in 1939 as a textile engineer. Before joining Fieldcrest Mills in March, 1946, he had been connected with Eagle and Phoenix Mills, Columbus, Ga.; Ciba Dyestuff Company in New York and Charlotte; and with the Hercules Powder Com pany at Radford, Va., Chattanooga, Tenn., and Hattiesburg, Miss. He is married to the former Miss Sue Munday, of Taylorsville and they have a son four weeks old. They live at 312 Country Club Drive. Rose is from Rocky Mount, N. C., and graduated from State College in 1942 with a degree in chemical engineering. He served three and one-half years in the Army Air Forces, part of which time he was in the Air Forces Head quarters Gunnery Research Division. Following his discharge he joined Fieldcrest Mills January 15, 1946. He is married to the former Miss Buren Boyce, of Jefferson City, Mo., and they have a 10-months-old daughter, Caro lyn. They live at the Charles Hopper home on the King’s Mill Road. ★ N. C. Symphony To Be Heard Here On April 10 Employees who are music lovers will have an opportunity to hear the North Carolina Symphony Orchestra at the Leaksville high school auditorium Thursday night, April 10 at 8:30 o’clock. The John Powers model shown on the cover is Miss Jacqueline Halsey, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. G. Halsey, of the Highlands. In addition to the cover, Miss Halsey’s picture appears on pages 165-175 inside the magazine. She was heard on the John Powers radio program during last week. Her picture was carried in the last issue of Vogue, and will appear in the April issue of Charm magazine. Another daughter of the Halseys, Fifi, also is a model at the Powers agency. Their father is manager of the Woolen and Rayon Mills. m. S. ticn of Benjamin Swalin. Membership in the Society entitles the possessor to attend any full concert within the State and may be obtained by sending a check to Mrs. R. A. Butler, Spray, N. C., by April 1. Mrs. Butler ex plains that the regular $2.00 membership fee is still in force and that tickets sold at the door April 10 will be slightly higher.
