What the girls won’t do next. Shine Tilley and Dot Reynolds went hunting Thanksgiving, but' didn’t say for what. It must have been extremely cold the other night because Tom Dillon’s bass horn froze up and admitted nary a gurgle. Maybe it ought to have a bath with anti-freeze. We sure are reluctant to say so long to Dot Reynolds who is leaving for a while, and sure do welcome Joy Wil son who is taking her place. I hear tell that the Personnel De partment have all been shopping. I’ll be glad to let you know “my size,” girls, in case you have any doubts in your minds. The Rockingham County Law En forcement Officers Association held their December meeting at the Y. M. C. A. Fieldcrest Cafeteria Monday even ing,, December 1, with nearly 100 offic ers and visitors present. Sheriff M. S. Hodges, president, pre sided and introduced , the visitors. J. O. Thomas, of Fieldcrest Mills, in troduced Rholie Bailey, of the Karastan Setting Department, who entertained the group with impersonations of movie stars and other celebrities. Upper left shows Nadine Louise, daughter of Mrs. Dorothy Harris (Em broidered Bedspread) and granddaugh ter of Jesse Vernon (Sheeting Weave). Upper right is Peggy Ann, daughter of Ray Gilbert (Karastan Burling). At lower left is Gene Williard, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Martin (Karastan Weave); and at lower right is Janice Marie, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Rea. Daddy works in Rayon Mill and mother in Bleachery Sewing. He: “I can’t see what keeps you girls from freezing.” She: “You’re not supposed to.” Son: “Say pop, did you go to Sunday School when you were a boy?” Father: “Yes, son, regularly.” Son: “I’ll bet it won’t do me any good either.” Brr-rr-rr! Mr. J. O. Thomas is vaca tioning. Personally, we’d rather have a bathing suit and a sunny beach. On the other hand, time off in front of the fireside may not be so bad after all. Marie Sedell went to furrin parts. No, she didn’t need a passport, she was in the state of Pennsylvania and in the city of brotherly love. Mh-mmmh, whose brother? Some girls don’t know what they’re afraid of. We overheard two of the girls discussing something the other day, and one was afraid because she was getting married and the other one was afraid because she wasn’t going to. We certainly miss Dick Tanner who is still in Fieldale, and by still we mean yet, not still. Everybody’s all agog—E'ind out about Gardner and Marlowe. . .They were seen handling a prospectus (whatever that is) on a gold mine. From the smiles I would guess that they are part own ers in a gold mine. Sample Menus At The Y. M. SPECIAL PLATES- C. A.
