TB Danger Signals
People who refuse to “keep tabs” on
their health with regular physical ex
aminations, even though they think they
are well, are unwise. But those who
Ignore definite signals that something
IS wrong take a foolish chance and in
vite serious illness and even death.
During summer months, people who
seem tired all the time, lose weight, and
never seem hungry at mealtime fre
quently blame the summer heat and
say there’s nothing they can do about it.
It’s true that intense heat and humid
ity can interfere with “pep” and appe
tite, but the loss of energy can also be
the sign of such a serious disease as
tuberculosis.
Tuberculosis has no obvious symp
toms when it first strikes, but is fre
quently accompanied by fatigue, loss
of appetite and loss of weight.
Hence, while a person who has these
complaints is busy blaming it all on the
Weather, he may be losing valuable
time in fighting his disease. Of course
there are other danger signals of
tuberculosis, which usually come later,
including a cough that hangs on, pain
m the chest, and spitting of blood.
When these accompany fatigue and
poor appetite, tuberculosis may have
taken serious hold.
A persons is acting wisely when he
gets his free chest x-ray when an op
portunity is offered, when he has a
thorough physical examination once a
year or oftener, and when he consults
his family physician promptly if “dan
ger signals” appear.

Eye-appealing Gift Packages Boost Sales of Towels

Representative sets in the new gift packaging of Fieldcrest towels are shown
above. The boxes are in handsome colors and, of course, the towels are available in
a choice of colors. The final number in the style designation indicates the number
of pieces. For example, #8333-5 means this style contains five pieces of merchan
dise (one bath towel, two guest towels, and two wash cloths). Other sets have various
combinations.
New 1950 Gift Packages of Fieldcrest Towels
Declared “Best We’ve Ever Presented”
After almost a year’s research, de
signing and planning, the new 1950
Fieldcrest gift set towel packing is
reaching retail store counters from
coast to coast. And the Sales Dept,
reports that the concensus of cus
tomer opinion is “Best we’ve ever pre
sented.”
Surprising to people outside the busi
ness is the time necessary to develop
such a line of packages. This program
started early last fall, with several
leading packaging manufacturers and in
dependent designers submitting “ideas”
and dummy package designs.
After a “weeding out” by the Sales
Dept, the best designs and most prac
tical boxes were presented at the sales
meeting and wholesalers’ meeting last
November. Our own sales staff all over
the country, as well as our distributors,
voted on the “Packages Most Likely to
Succeed.”
Next came the work of changing the
package sizes to exactly fit the towels,
finally working out the artwork and
printing plates, coordinating ribbon
colors so they match the boxes.
Finished boxes began to arrive at the
mill in late May and June, and actual
assembly work started.
