the arrival of a son, Gene Albert, in the
Leaksville Hospital.
Mr. and Mrs. John H. Roberts an
nounce the arrival of a daughter,
Teresa Lynn, October 26 in the Leaks
ville Hospital.
Sympathy
We extend our deepest sympathy to
Mr. and Mrs. Jess Hundley, whose son,
Elrin, was killed in Korea.
Couple Observe 70th
Anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. Steve Rorrer of Buffalo
Ridge, Va., celebrated their 70th wed
ding anniversary Sunday. They had
open house from 12 noon until 6 p. m.
Many friends called to congratulate
this grand couple. They have 17 chil
dren who attended the occasion. Among
those who called were Mrs. Green Hall
and Vernon Hall of Draper.

Mrs. J. S. Page was given a birthday
dinner in her home October 29 in honor
of her 67th birthday. A bountiful din
ner was prepared. Mrs. Page is a retired
employee of Fieldcrest Mills.
Those attending were: Mr. and Mrs.
Elbert Cochran and family, Mr. and
Mrs. Dewey Medford and son. Rev. and
Mrs. Ernest Page of Greensboro, Mr.
and Mrs. Roy French of Reidsville, Mr.
and Mrs. Summers of Reidsville, Mr.
and Mrs. Luke Hall and family of
Reidsville, and Mr. and Mrs. Garland
Hall of Reidsville.
Eight of her grandchildren were pres
ent.
We wish for Mrs. Page many more
happy birthdays.

Mrs. Beulah Gillespie gave a party in
honor of her son, Kenneth, who has
been on leave from the Navy.

One Year Old Now
Daniel Karastan Walker was one
year old on September 23, 1949. He is

Colonial Theatre in
Leaksville and was

there recently.
Because of his un
usual name, “Karas
tan,” the handsome

Mr. and Mrs. Ray Warner entertained
the Loyal Sons and Daughters class of
the Brethren Church at a Hallowe’en
party October 28. From the group of 27

for the best costume. Games and re
freshments were enjoyed by all.
Mr. and Mrs. Tommie Jenkins spent
last week-end in Kings Mountain visit
ing his mother.
Mrs. Lottie Land and family were
among those who enjoyed the circus in
Greensboro recently.

Boiler Plant. She’s holding two tobacco
leaves as long as she is tall. At right is
Mr. Chaney shown in his tobacco field.
Some of his tobacco reached a height
of 7 feet.
