Board of Directors Clears
Up Misunderstanding of
Revised By-laws
■ *
Some misunderstanding has arisen
concerning the benefits for veterans
under the revised by-laws of the United
Mutual Aid Association. In explanation
of the section pertaining to veterans the
Board of Directors has pointed out that
veterans and their dependents are en
titled to ALL benefits of the Mutual
Aid Association.
However, the Association will not re
imburse the Veterans Administration
for hospitalization or surgical benefits
received by a member in a Veterans’
hospital, the reason for this being that
use of veterans hospitals is furnished
all veterans without cost by the United
States Government.
This appUes only in cases where the
member goes to a veterans hospital. If
any other hospital is used, then the
veteran is entitled to all benefits of the
Mutual Aid Association.
The revised by-laws have been
adopted by the membership to become
effective January 1, 1951. The chief
revisions are increased non-surgical
benefits, an adjustment in dues and a
new method of electing unit committee
men.
