MULTIPLIED BY 100
Back in 1900 the 75,994,575 Americans
each had a $16.50 share ef the national
debt. In 1950, there were 150,697,361
of us, and our individual share of the
national debt was $1,696.11. By simple
arithmetic that means that about twice
as many Americans are carrying a load
which is 100 times greater!
All problems become smaller if you
don’t dodge them, but confront them.

you; grasp it boldly, and its spines

KARASTAN NEWS
(By Mary Stephens)
Edgar Clark has an addition of 17
mouths to be fed (pigs, that is). He
says they are real beauties' and invites
friends to take their pick now (for a
price, that is).
Mark Richardson and Howard Bran-
nock were reported to have been at
Tuttle’s Fish Pond Friday. We haven’t
heard a word from them, so it appears
the fish were safe.
For a time it looked like Spencer
Priddy was buying and selling radios
but it turns out he was carrying them
home to fix them. (Yep, he repairs
radios).
After seeing a new power glide
Chevrolet in the parking lot at night,
couldn’t help noticing that Coy Hudgins
is going around with his chin up and
his face has a shine just as much as
the new car. Don’t ask him for a ride
just yet, though, until the shine is gone.
Among those who enjoyed late vaca
tions were;
Wilma Wilson who spent a quiet (?)
week at home.
Ida Pickelseimer who visited in Wins
ton-Salem.
Libby Cantrell has been singing the
“blues” for the past two weeks due to
her husband, Ray’s, being away down
in Alabama with the National Guard.
