In a message broadcast on radio and TV, Gen. George C. Marshall urged that every prospec tive donor keep his appointment. “Re member,” said Gen. Marshall, “You can’t transfuse a promise.” Those who gave blood during the Bloodmobile’s earlier visits can give again, as it is' perfectly safe to give a pint of blood every two months accord ing to medical authorities. All potential blood donors are examined before the blood is taken. No blood will be taken if there are indications the donor wiU suffer any ill effects. All donors will be given a contribu tor’s pin, and later will receive a card acknowledging the blood donation and their blood type. ★ Oak Ridge Quartet To Appear Tonight At Fieldale Y.M.C.A. The Fieldale Rotary Club will spon sor Wally Fowler and his Oak Ridge Quartet at the Fieldale Y.M.C.A. Mon day, September 17, at 8 p. m. Proceeds from the performance will benefit the Rotary Club’s crippled children’s fund. In addition to the Oak Ridge aggre gation the Fieldcrest Quartet and the Four Tones, male quartet from Galax, Va., will take part in the program. Wally Fowler and his group are nationally famous, having appeared on the NBC portion of Radio Station WSM’s “Grand Ole Opry” for more than five years. In addition to their radio work they have appeared in and filled to capacity some of the nation’s largest auditoriums. They also have ap peared in some of the largest churches in America. The quartet has been successfully sponsored in their all-night singing con certs by all types of civic and religious groups. Members of the quartet include Wally Fowler, known as “The All-Nite Singing Man”; Johnny New, first tenor; Pat Patterson, baritone; Bob Weber, bass. Glenn Allred, who supplies most 2 of the humor on the program, plays the guitar and young Bobby Whitfield plays the piano. First organized at Oak Ridge, Tenn., the quartet has made several successful recordings including, “Dese Bones A’Gonna Rise Again,” “On the Jericho Road,” “Lead Me To That Rock,” “Just a Closer Walk With Thee,” and others. The Fieldale Rotarians anticipate a huge crowd and arrangements have been made to seat the people in the Y.M.C.A. gymnasium and in the Dale Theater, if need be, with the quartets alternating between the two auditori ums. Admission prices' are $1.00 for adults and 50 cents for children. Carson Oakley Will Be Sent To Germany Cpl. Carson Oakley, just back froifl the Southern Pines maneuvers, visited some of the mills and offices last weeK’ Carson’s outfit is going to Germany October and he thinks he will have serve about a year before being returned home under the rotation plan. The corporal’s youngest brother, James L. Oakley, of Danville, Va., serving in Korea with the First Cavalr/ Division.
