Open house at the Vocational School 'vill be a part of the observance of American Education Week. Purpose of the event is to acquaint the public with the types of vocational training which ^ocal high school students receive. NEW TAX TABLE The new withholding tax ta ble issued by the U. S. Treas ury Department appears on page eight of this issue. In order to comply with provisions of the new Federal Tax law the Company is required to increase the with holding tax on all wages paid on and after November 1, 1951, re gardless of when the wages were earned. Employees may wish to tear out and keep the sheet upon which the table is printed. Ques tions concerning the withholding tax may be taken up with your departmental supervisor or miU Personnel Office. Towel Mill Employees Receive Cash Prizes With the Towel Mill at Fieldale, Va., \ winning first place in the Mill House keeping Contest conducted during Oc tober, a total of $70.00 in cash prizes has' been awarded to Towel employees. The winning department within the mill was Carding. The winner of the $10.00 cash prize in that department was Crawford Aldridge. Under rules of the contest conducted among the various plants, employees of the mill winning first place were per mitted to draw for a cash prize in each department. The drawings were con ducted last week with $5.00 prizes being won by the following; Carding, Vernon Hopkins; Spinning, Mattie Wingfield; Dyeing and Slashing, James Rakes; Shop and Boiler Room, Stanhope Hair ston; . ^ ^ , Bleachery, Ho'ward Hairston; Pack ing and Warehouse, Eugene Dillard; Sewing, Sarah Turner; Cloth Room, James C. Prillaman; Jacquard Weaving, Frank Fulcher; Dobby Terry Weaving, Noble Barrow; Dobby Huck Weaving, George Reeves; and Draper Terry Weaving, Sam Hagood. Laid Off Employees Reminded Concerning Insurance, Mutual Aid —*— Group insurance premiums and Mu tual Aid dues must be paid weekly. This, of course, requires no effort on the part of employees while they are working and the deductions are made from their pay checks. However, in the case of lay-offs, or other absences responsibility rests upon the employee for keeping the contribu tions paid up to date so the insurance and Mutual Aid will remain in force. Any week when you do not have wages on the payroll from which your contribution can be deducted, you are expected to pay or arrange for payment of your contribution with the mill cashier. When you are laid off you must in dicate your desire to continue your Group Insurance and Mutual Aid and Arrange for keeping the premiums' paid while you are not working. Premiums are payable in advance to the mill cashier. The above requirements are stated in the Group Insurance and Mutual Aid booklets which have been given to aU employees. If you are laid off you might want to review these booklets for your protection. If you have lost your book lets, you may replace them by calling at your mill Personnel Office. L B. M. Musical Program To Be Presented At Council Meeting The combined glee clubs of the Dra per and Leaksville high schools and the school band will present a concert for members of the Carolina Cooperative Council and guests Thursday evening at 7:30 o’clock in the Leaksville high school auditorium. It will be a ladies’ night with wives of Council members invited. Also, mem bers' of the Junior Carolina Council and their wives or husbands will attend as guests. The local glee clubs and the band have won recognition among the high schools of the State and an enjoyable program is anticipated. There will be no speaker.
