MILL WHISTLE Formal Opening Set For New Rayon Mill Plant Will Go Into Operation Monday, December 10; Employees To Visit On Sunday The New Rayon Mill, located at the former Woolen Mill site, will be formal ly opened Sunday afternoon, December 9.. The Fieldcrest Radio Program will be broadcast from the new mill and Will carry a portion of the dedication ceremonies. Rayon Mill employees and their fami lies are being mailed invitations to the formal opening. They are being request ed to arrive at the mill by 2:45 p. m. in order that the crowd may be seated before the broadcast begins at 3 p. m. Following the program, employees and their families wil be conducted on tours of the new plant. Later in the same week it is planned to have an “open house” for the general Public to give employees of our other mills and community people an oppor tunity to see the new mill. Remodeling of the mill building has Store Schedule The Employees Store will be closed Monday and Tuesday, De cember 24 and 25, in observance of the Christmas holidays. The store will be open during the reg ular hours Wednesday, December 26. The store will close for inven tory at 1 p.m. Thursday, Decem ber 27, and remain closed until Wednesday, January 2, 1952, when it will re-open for the regular schedule. been virtually completed and some of the machinery already has been moved and put into place. The present Rayon Mill will be closed December 1-10 while the remainder of the machinery is trans ferred to the new location. Employees of the Rayon Mill, who worked through the regular vacation last summer will take a week’s vacation while the last machinery is being moved and made ready for operation in the new plant. Progress Made On New Addition at Towel Mill m Picture shows construction at the Towel Mill, Fieldale, Va., where an addition to provide 30,000 square feet of floor space is being built at the north end of the finishing building. The sewing room will be enlarged and badly needed additional space will be provided for packaging and open stock storage. The new structure is to be completed early in 1952. First Fire Lighted In New Rayon Boiler m Bonnie Pruitt, veteran fireman and watchman at Fieldcrest Mills, who shut down the boilers when the Woolen Mill was closed in 1948, is shown as he light ed the first fire in the boiler at the new Rayon Mill Tuesday, November 13. Mill Trip To Feature Distributors Meeting The annual Fieldcrest Sales meeting, bringing together our road salesmen, mill and sales officials opens at Hotel Roanoke, Roanoke, Va., Friday, Novem ber 30 and continues through Monday, December 3. At the sales meeting of our organization, these three days will be devoted to sales problems, new pro ducts, new ideas to keep our mills ac tive. The Sales meeting will be followed by the Fieldcrest Distributor meeting to be attended by approximately 50 execu tives from the wholesale distributor (Continued on Page Four)
