Mills operating on a six-day schedule will start at 11 p.m. Sunday, December 28. Mills on a five- day schedule will resume operations at 7 a.m. Monday, December 29. Payroll checks for the week ending December 21 will be distributed at the mills Wednesday, December 24, at 2 p.m. Straight-time pay for an 8-hour The banks in Leaksville, Spray and Draper will be open Wednesday, Dec ember 24 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Since the mills are paying off at 2 p. m. on Wednesday, December 24, all banks, as a courtesy, will re-open from 3 p. m. to 4 p. m. in order that employees may cash their checks. work day will be paid to each employee for Christmas day, provided his name appears on the active payroll for the week including the holiday and he worked his last scheduled work day be fore and his first scheduled work day after the holiday. Pay for Christmas day will be in cluded in the regular paycheck for the week ending January 11, 1953. For the New Year holiday, all mills will close at the end of the second shift Wednesday, December 31, at 11 p.m. All mills will start up again at the beginning of the third shift Thursday, January 1, at 11 p.m. Certain departments in the mills will close earlier and start up later in order to complete the taking of inventory. Employees affected will be notified of any change in the above schedule. Mills that would normally be paid Thursday, January 1, will be paid Friday, January 2. All offices at Fieldcrest will be closed for the Christmas holidays Thursday and Friday, December 25 and 26, and for the New Year holiday Thursday, January 1. The company announces that due to favorable experience for the past year, group insurance premiums will be waiv ed for six weeks ending December 14, 21, 28 and January 4, 11 and 18. These together with two weeks waived for the vacation period in July total eight weeks for the insurance year. These premium waivers will make a total reduction of 15.4 per cent in the annual cost of em ployees’ insurance. 2 veiled for Fieldcrest salesmen and our wholesale distributors at the annual do mestic sales and distributors meetings at Hotel Roanoke in Roanoke, Va., Dec ember 5-12. At the sales meeting December 5-8 our road salesmen, mill and sales execu tives devoted attention to sales problems, new products and new merchsmdise ideas to help sell Fieldcrest products and keep the mills active. A chartered bus brought a large group of the salesmen to the Tri-Cities and Fieldale where they visited the mills and quality control laboratories on Mon day. The salesmen were given a lunch eon at Meadow Greens Country club which was attended by local mill of ficials. The distributors meeting brought together with members of our sales or ganization executives and salesmen from Fieldcrest wholesale distributors from all parts of the United States. The dis tributors were given a preview of the new merchandise and sample rooms en abled them to make their advance pur chases for 1953. The four-day meeting was packed with presentations of new merchandising and selling ideas. Many of the distributors visited the mills Thursday, touring the Blanket, Sheeting, Bedspread, Electric Blanket, and Finishing mills, the Bleachery, Cen tral Warehouse and the Research and Quality Control Dept.
