Mills Will Be Host To Safety Council Fieldcrest Mi Is will be host to mem bers of the Cf* itral Piedmont Safety Council at a meeting at Central Y.M.C.A., 7:30 p. i., Friday, February 6. Tom Carroll, assistant to the secretary of the National Cotton Coimcil, Memphis, Tenn., will speak on “Stop, Look and Listen” using the flannel board and other visual aids. Supervisors, plant superintendents, and others interested in the promotion of safe work will attend from central Piedmont counties. It is expected that a large number of Fieldcrest supervisors will attend and invitations have been sent to other mills and local industries. The meeting wiU be open to the public and all interested persons are in vited. TAX SERVICE Paychecks this week will have attach ed a form which employees may fill out and return if they desir* assistance in preparing their income-;:*x returns. The Company is making the free tax service available beginning February 10. Advisory Training Council Appointed Appointment of an Advisory Train ing Council, responsible to the General Management, to stimulate interest in effective training throughout the organi zation and to evaluate programs and methods as proposed by the training director, has been announced by Har old W. Whitcomb, assistant general man ager. H. T. Bundy, assistant manager of the Sheeting Mill, was named chairman to serve for a one-year term. E. W. Med bery, production manager, and William McGehee, director of personnel research and training are ex-offio members. Re presentatives on the council are appoint ed by the assistant general manager and consist of one member from each mill and from each major staff department. The council will hold quarterly meet ings and will make an annual written report to the assistant general manager on the status of training within Field crest Mills. Continuing functions of the council will be to review activities in the areas of production, clerical, technical, supervisory and management training and to advise how our training program can be improved and strength ened. Mairs, Jr., joined our Keir- astan division, January 1 as sales re presentative for the newly-created ter ritory in the north central states. This territory is comprised of Iowa, Minne sota, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wisconsin, and assigned ac counts in Michigan and Canada. Mr. Mairs’ headquarters will be in Minnea polis. The new sales representative has a background of several years of experi ence in the floor covering field at the retail level, having been associated with B. Altman and Company in New York and W. & J. Sloane in Beverly Hills, Calif.
