Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Cur
tis Tilley, newly-weds! Curtis is the
son of Mr. and Mrs. Noel Tilley. His
wife is the former Miss Nancy Carmich
ael.
Pvt. and Mrs. J. T. Pegram Jr., were
the week-end guests of Mrs. Pegram’s
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harley Webb,
Collinsville. Pvt. Pegram is stationed at
Fort Jackson and Mrs. Pegram is teach
ing at Guilford College.
“Friday the thirteenth,” isn’t an un
lucky day, say Mr. and Mrs. Charles
Ferguson. Their son returned home
from Korea on that date. Mrs. Ferguson
is employed in the Hosiery Mill, but has
been confined to her home with illness
for several weeks.
Mrs.' Hazel Mitchell and family, of
Guilford College, were recent guests of
Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Eaton.
Max White, student at the Medical
College of Virginia, Richmond, spent the
week-end with his parents, Mr. and
Mrs. R. L. White.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Haynes had as
their week-end guest Mr. and Mrs.
Hardwick and family from Mooresville,
N. C. They visited other relatives in the
Fieldale area while they were here.
Sgt. John B. Matthews has returned to
Korea after spending a 30-day emer
gency furlough with his family.
Mr. and Mrs. T. C. Watson, Sr. had as
their guests over the week-end, Mr. and
Mrs. T. C. Watson, Jr., and children
from Silver Springs, Md.
Miss Avis Carter, a student at Rad
ford College, has returned to school
after visiting her family and friends
for several days.
Robert James Frye, of the U. S. Navy,
spent several days with his parents, Mr.
and Mrs. E. T. Frye, after returning from
a cruise around the world.

Rayon Employee’s Son
Is Serving Overseas
Pvt. Homer G. Hodges, a former em
ployee of the Rayon Mill, is now serving
overseas. He worked at the Rayon Mill
following graduation from Leaksville
high school and had attended the Medi
cal College of Virginia in Richmond for
one year before entering service. He
trained at Fort Jackson, S. C., and at
tended clerical school at Fort Harrison,
Ind.
He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. E. B.
Hodges. His father is assistant foreman
in the Rayon Weave Room. Mr. Hodges
and family recently drove to Fort Har
rison to see their son graduate from the
clerical school.
