Good housekeeping means cleanliness and order. A place is in order when there are no unnecessary ob jects about and those that are necessary are in their proper place —when there is a place for every thing and everything is in its place. You can do your part in promot ing good housekeeping in the mills and in helping to maintain attrac tive and pleasant working condi tions by giving attention to the points covered below in the Good Housekeeper’s code: 1. See that your own work area, work bench, tool box, table or cabinet is neat, orderly and clean. 2. Keep alleys and passageways unobstructed. Place boxes and trucks in zoned areas. 3. Prevent accumulation of ex cessive amounts of obsolete supplies, broken and damaged equipment, etc. 4. Make sure that waste, trash, and disposable junk iron are placed in proper containers. 5. Place drink bottles in rack. 6. Drop cigarette butts in the sand barrel, not on the yard near gate entrances. 7. Stack and store beams, bob bins, and goods in process in a safe, neat and orderly man ner. 8. Avoid and eliminate unsafe conditions and fire hazards. Fire fighting equipment, fire doors, sprinkler heads, and exits must be imobstructed and available for immediate use. 9. Do your part and encourage others to cooperate in keep ing drinking fountains and rest room facilities neat and tidy. 10. Call to the attention of the supervisor any condition causing water or oil to drip on the floor and any other needing correction.
