New lighted tennis courts will go into use this week as a part of the imprcvii-
**ients at Central Recreation Park, Lee street. Spray, sponsored by the Leaksville-
Spray Y’s Men’s club. Facilities for softball, tennis, horseshoes, children’s play
ground, an outdoor fireplace and picnic area are offered at the park.

Seventeen employees of Fieldcrest
Mills retired under the Marshall Field
6 Company pension plan effective June
I to make a total of 433 who have re
tired in the Fieldcrest Mills division of
the company since the pension plan was
instituted in 1943.
Members of the retiring group were
honored in ceremonies and were pre
sented their first monthly pension
checks. Their rights and privileges as
retired employees of Fieldcrest Mills
were explained.
Lee P. Francis, retiring early from
the Blanket Mill, with 41 years and five
months, led ia length of conUnuoua ser
vice. Robert B. Epperson of the Sales
Department was next with 36 years and
II months. Others retiring were Leslie
M. Barksdale, Employees Store, 35 years
and 9 months; Miss Mary Lovell,
Blanket Mill, 35 years and 8 months;
Sam Ellington, Karastan, 34 years and
7 months; Worthie P. Law, Blanket, 33

126 Pints Of Blood
Donated At Fieldale
People of the Fieldale community
gave a total of 126 pints of blood when
the Red Cross bloodmobile visited the
town Tuesday, May 19. The blood col
lection program was under sponsorship
of the Fieldale Rotary club and was a
part of the Red Cross blood program
in Henry county.
Emory H. Goode, Rotary president,
described response in the project as
“wonderful” and expressed apprecia
tion to the blood donors and to those
who helped with arrangements and
other work in connection with the
Bloodmobile’s visit.
Rev. Charles Boyd, pastor of Fieldale
Methodist church, was in charge of
solicitations and appointments and had
the assistance of D. E. Simons at the
Towel Mill and R. T. IngramV at the
Hosiery M'll. \
