Frederic Hoit, vice president in
charge of domestics salss, has announ
ced the following changes in the Cus
tomer Service and General Office
(New York) personnel duties and res
ponsibilities, effective immediately.
Lewis Lee, formerly of the Distribu
tor Department, is appointed assistant
manager of the Customer Service De
partment. Mr. Lee will devote his full
time to Customer Service operations
and problems. In his new capacity, he
will also continue to handle all dis
tributor service problems.
John Biery continues as assistant
manager of the Customer Service De
partment and will have direct resonsi-
bility for all order and claims process
ing and record keeping.
Clifford Howell is appointed Office
Manager with responsibility for files,
mail, sample stock, and other service
functions. ,
Messrs. Lee, Biery and Howell wiU
report to W. E. Boone, manager of the
Customer Service Department.
Employees May Get
Hose At Low Prices
The Employees’ Store is conducting
a special close-out sale of current styles
and shades of hosiery. Hosiery will be
offered at special prices and for a
limited time only.
Samples of the hosiery will be on
display at various mill locations in
Draper, Leaksville, and Fieldale from
Monday, April 25 through Monday, May
6. Samples will be available at the
Draper gate house, the Karastan Office,
and the Fieldale Personnel Office. Em
ployees who wish to buy the hosiery
at these low prices should place their
orders at one of the above locations.
Employees in Spray may place
orders at the Employees’ Store and
Fieldale employees should order hos
iery through the Personnel Office.
The proper sizes and colors should be
stated in the order.
Both 60 gauge and 51 gauge hosiery
are being offered at reduced prices. 60
gauge hose, which formerly sold at the
Ernployees’ Store at $2.05 per box (3
pairs), will sell during this sale for
$1.60 per box. 51 gauge hose, which for
merly sold for $1.95 per box (3 pairs),
will sell on sale for $1.45. The usual
3% State Sales Tax will be added for
sales in North Carolina.
In addition to the hosiery being offer
ed through this special sale, a few other
styles and shades are available at the
Employees’ Store at the regular store
prices as long as the supply lasts. Em
ployees will be permitted to buy as
many boxes as desired. When these spe
cial orders are filled and the inventory
of hose at the Employees’ Store is sold
no more hose will be available.
Negotiations Open
On New Contract
Company and union representatives
met in the Nantucket conference room
Thursday afternoon, April 28, to open
negotiations on a new contract to re
place the present agreement which ex
pires June 1.
The company submitted a list of
changes it is proposing for the new
contract. The union representatives in
dicated they would study the propos
als before the next negotiating session
and would at that time submit several
changes the union desires in the con
tract. A meeting is set for Tuesday.
