T R Ray» superintendent of the Elect- ric Blanket Mill, who is Boy Scout Com missioner for Dan River district, said. “The year 1956 holds great promise for scouting in the Tri-Cities. We believe the program will reach more local boys than ever before as we go forward with our plans to organize additional units in areas that have been without the scouting movement. Extension of the program to more youth is one of our major aims for this year.” Mutual Aid Gives Operating Report Annual Financial Statement Will Be Posted In Mills During This Week During 1955 the United Mutual Aid Association paid 1890 claims for mem bers and their dependents. Receipts from dues during the year were $138,- 234.89. Total expenditures were $109,- 914.73, and $29,698.38 was invested in stocks and bonds. The association’s re serve amounted to $73,159.94 at the end of the year. The annual financial state ment is posted on the mill bulletin boards during this week and is printed on page seven in this issue of the MILL WHISTLE, The association’s excellent financial condition due to the reserve which has been built up gradually over the years and favorable experience in 1955 ,made possible a number of increases in bene fits without any increase in dues. The liberalized benefits became ef fective January 1, 1956. The hospital room allowance was raised from $7.00 to $8.00 per day. The allowance for extras (laboratory fees, X-rays, drugs, dressings, etc.) was raised from $7.00 to $8.00 per day.
