Harriet Clingman, Decorator, To Speak Here
A large audience of men and women
the Tri-Cities and a wide sur
rounding area is expected to hear the
lecture by Harriet Clingman, noted
*^ecorating consultant, in the Leaks-
''ille-Spray junior high school audi
torium Friday evening, April 27.
Mrs. Clingman is a member of the
^^cturing staff of F. Schumacher &
^0., largest decorative fabrics firm in
the world. She will speak on “Trends
Home Furnishings” and will present
’^olor schemes correlating fabrics, wall
papers and carpeting. She will show
® number of authentic reproductions of
•Museum fabrics from famous collec
tions.
The le''ture is sponsored by the Dra
per Junior Woman’s club and the
Leaksville-Spray Woman’s club. Mrs.
Clingman will speak to the home eccn-
oiiiics classes at Tri-City high school
earlier in the day.
Public Will Be Invited
To Visit All Plants
Plans are under way for an
“open house” program at all of
the mills. Employees, members of
their families, relatives, friends
and the general public will be
invited to visit the plants.
Guided tours will be arranged
highlighting the new machinery,
building additions and alterations
and other improvements embrac
ed by our modernization program
during the past two and one-half
years.
The Towel Mill will be open to visi
tors Monday, April 30. Students in the
Tri-Cities from the seventh grade
through high school will tour the North
Carolina plants Tuesday, May 1, and
the general public will be invited to
visit the Tri-City plants on Wednes
day, May 2. The visiting hours will be
from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. at each location.
Prizes Will Be Given
A large number of attendance prizes
will be awarded, including a 3 x 5
Karastan rug, an electric blanket, an
all-wool blanket, tablecloths, bed
spreads, and sheets and towels in at
tractively packaged sets.
Notices will be posted on the bulle
tin boards inviting employees to at
tend the open house and to bring their
relatives and friends to see where they
work. Invitations will be sent to clubs,
other civic organizations, local govern
ment officials, other industries, min
isters, teachers and school officials and
other community groups.
Although students, clubs and various
smaller groups make visits to the mills
virtually every week, it will be the
first “open house” for the general pub
lic since 1950.

Fieldcrest Opens Sales
Office In Dallas, Texas
Arthur S. Thompson, domestics sales
manager, has announced the opening
of a sales office in Dallas, Texas, rsp~
resenting an expansion of our activities
in the Southwest. The new office is in
the Dallas Merchandise Mart and is
headquarters for J. A. Schroeter, Field
crest sales representative in the area.
