Mexico City Native Is Visitor At Fieldcrest Fieldcrest had a visitor from “south of the border” recently in the person of Gustavo Deleze, of Mexico City. Mr. Deleze is buyer of all domestics lines lor the 28 stores operated by Sears, Roebuck & Co., in various cities in Mexico. He said Fieldcrest was chosen as an example of a modern progressive tex tile organization and he spent two days here observing the operations in our manufacture of domestics. He visited all of our domestics mills. He was particularly impressed with our quality testing programs and the facilities and methods used in our re search and quality control laboratories. He also was impressed by Fieldcrest people. “I certainly appreciate the fine treatment I received here and enjoyed meeting some of the people on the ,iobs. All of the employees seemed very Towel Mill Men Take Office In Lions Club; Turner Is President R. H. Turner, foreman of the Towel Mill weave room, is the new president of the Fieldale Lions club. He and these other officers were installed at a dinner meeting last Tuesday: E. L. Merriman, first vice-president; R. A. Youngman, second vice-president; R. D. Hundley, third vice-president; Ralph Stone, secretary; Ralph Pickup, treasurer; John Hager, Lion tamer; and Howard Joyce, tail twister. Directors include: Rev. Raleigh Mann, Raymond Martin, and James Wade. The club voted to sponsor two pro jects in the fall: A minstrel show for the Collinsville Methodist church, and a dancing class at Fieldale to be taught by Miss Geraldine Fox, of Roanoke. Installation ceremonies were con ducted by Sam Goller, of Martinsville. He is a Lions club zone secretary. friendly and pleasant,” he said. Mr. Deleze is of French descent and is a native of Mexico City. He has nev er lived in the United States except for about a year and a half, in Califor nia, when he was in training with Sears. However, he attends staff meet- irgs in Chicago once a year and more frequently is in the southwest portion of the United States at various confer ences conducted by his company. Sears started in Mexico about 10 years ago, he said, and has expanded rapidly in that country. All of the 28 stores are modern department stores, he said, and one of them is among the best in Sears’ far-flung organization.
