Williams, Jim Smith, Bob Harden and John Mauney. Toastmasters Club Installs New Officers New officers of the Y.M.C.A. Toast masters Club, composed mostly of Field- crest men, were installed at a ladies’ night program at Consolidated Central Y.M.C.A. March 31. Welsford Bishopric, treasurer of Spray Cotton Mills, was installed as president, succeeding B. F. Dunton, of the Field- crest Purchasing Department. Other of ficers to serve with Mr. Bishopric are H. E. Williams, safety director, educa tional vice president; Jim Smith, Kar- astan, administrative vice president; John Mauney, Karastan, secretary; R. A. Harden, Engineering Department, treasurer; and Fred Sizemore, Bed spread Mill, sergeant-at-arms. Newton Is Toastmaster For Program Haven Newton, Industrial Relations Department, was toastmaster for the program. Otis Marlowe, editor of the Mill Whistle, gave the invocation. The new officers were installed by C. J. Frank, director of industrial relations, who previously has had Toastmasters training and who serves as an advisor to the local club. Fifth speeches were made by Mr. Har den and Milton Leffew and a third speech by Robert Moore. Marvin Clifton, of the Bleachery, was the evaluator and Mr. Mauney was grammarian. The next dinner meeting of the club will be at 6:30 p.m. Monday, April 21, at Consoli dated Central Y.M.C.A. Finishing Mill Team And Beavers Lead In Fieldcrest Bowling In the standings April 10, the Finish ing Mill was on top in the Fieldcrest Men’s bowling league at Draper Y.M.C.- A. The Finishing Mill has a record of 39-5, followed by the Standards De partment with 36-8 and the Karastan Mill with 22-22. The Karastan team won the first half and will play the second half winner for the championship. The play-offs will be on May 2 following the close of the regular season April 25. Trophies for members of the championship team and other awards will be presented at a banquet at Draper Y.M.C.A. May 9. Dan Squires, of the Blanket Mill team, has the highest single game score, 164, and the highest three-game set, 378. The Blanket Mill with 570 has the highest team game score. The Finishing Mill has 1587 for the highest three-game match. James Marlowe, Standards, and Paul Setliff, Finishing, with 107 each, are tied for the highest individual average. Third is Jim Smith, Karastan, 103, and next is Carl Rhodes, Finishing, 102. Beavers Assured Of Championship In the Women’s League which closes the season April 15, the Beavers have a nine-game lead and are assured of vic tory. Polly Burnette, of Karastan Burl ing, is captain of the Beavers team. With only three more games to roll, the leaders are as follows: Beavers, 48- 8; Peoples Loan, 37-19; and Lucky Five, 32-20. The Beavers have 523 for the high team game and 1490 for the high match. Cindy McCanless has 139 for high game and Hilda Martin has 340 for high three-game set. Both are from the Beav ers team. Polly Burnette, Beavers captain, and Cora Chilton, captain of the Lucky Five, are tied for the highest individual aver age with 100 each. Next is Mamie Link, of the Amateurs, with 94.
