Vacation Pay Close To One-Half Million (Continued from page one) will, in most cases, be eligible for some vacation pay. Fieldcrest was one of the first tex tile companies to provide paid vaca tions for employees. The plan was start ed in 1940 and vacation pay has been issued each summer since that time. During World War II when, because of the need for production, the mills ran continuously during the summer, vacation pay was given as a bonus in addition to the employees’ full time earnings. Two Weeks Of Extra Pay Under the plan, employees with five or more years of continuous service re ceive 4% of their past year’s earnings, the equivalent of about two weeks of ex tra pay. Employees with one or more years of service but less than five re ceive 2% of their past year’s earnings, or about one week of extra pay. A large majority will receive vaca tion pay at the 4% figure. The rec ords show that the number receiving the larger amount has been going up each year. This means that the Company has been able to furnish steady employment over the years and that an increasing number of employees have chosen to stay with Fieldcrest for long periods of service. Chairmen And Winner Kenneth Mostella, of Raw Materials Purchasing, and J. B. Baughn, Jr., of Research and Development, were co- chairmen of the 1958 “Miss Rocking ham County” beauty pageant sponsored by the Tri-City Junior Chamber of Commerce. They are shown with Miss Rena Lee Frick, 18-year-old brunette, of Reids- ville, who won the county title and will compete in the State beauty pageant in Charlotte July 9-12.
