low construction. Priced in the moderate
bracket, Flourish was developed to give
the utmost value in practicality while
retaining Karastan’s fine quality charac
teristics.
Another significant offering was a new
Princess Bokhara rug by Karastan with
a deep, rich red background and geo
metric panel and border design in pre
dominant ivory and black. The new Bok
hara design was carefully chosen to co
ordinate with current home furnishing
trends, though the design is taken from
a 200-year-old antique.
In addition to the newly-developed
fabrics and designs shown at the mar
ket, Karastan introduced new colors in
most of the mill’s existing lines.
Also presented were three new rugs
in the cotton Accent and Happiness
groups. The Accent rug is a floral hook
pattern with a muted beige background.
New Happiness rugs, which appear
below, are Rickshaw, showing a Jap
anese girl riding among cherry blossoms
with Mount Fujiyama in b a c k-
ground, in soft pinks, blues and mauves,
and Rin-Tin-Tin, in gray and cream
tones, so skillfully designed that it be
comes a distinguished portrait of the
famous movie and television dog star.
