WASTE CONTROL—Preparing to start a new set on a slasher at the Towel Mill, W. O. Haden (right), slasher tender, and John Akers, slasher helper, pull lease strings as close as possible to the point where the set has been tied on. This assures that only a minimum amount of hard waste will be made. The proper start-up of new sets is one of the easiest ways that slasher operators can help reduce losses from waste. Towel Mils Honors Its Quality Leaders Top quality weavers and top loom- fixers at the Towel Mill for the most re cent periods of record are shown below. In addition to being published in The Mill Whistle, the names of the “top” weavero and loomfixers are posted on the weave room bulletin boards each week. The “Weavers of the Week” are those with the lowest per cent of seconds with respect to the standards for the various loom groups. The top loomfixers are determined through a combination of low seconds and high loom efficiency on their re spective sections. Weavers—^W/E August 24 Dobby Terry—J. S.
