Work will proceed on the framework of reinforced concrete but the brick work will not be done until next spring. Due to re-location of the hospital on a portion of the land that was formerly a hill, several weeks were added to the originally-planned work days. When it was decided to rough in the fourth floor for the potential expansion into an 108-bed hospital, instead of the original one with 75 beds, this added more work days to the schedule. The final project completion date was then set at 500 days from the start of the project on August 4, 1958. The 108-bed hospital when completed is expected to be adequate to serve the needs of the area for many years to come. Employees Contributed $223,000 Fieldcrest people have a justifiable pride in the new hospital. Funds for its construction were raised last faU by public subscription. Fieldcrest employe es, in a magnificient response, pledged a total of $223,000 to the building fund. Fieldcrest Mills as a corporation gave $100,000, making a total contribution of $323,000 by employees and the Com pany toward the cost of the new com munity hospital. Bedell New Assistant In Blanket Sales Dept. Jerome J. Bedell, Jr. has been ap pointed assistant to O. G. Grubbs, man ager of the Blanket Sales Department. He will assist Mr. Grubbs in all phases of the department’s operations and in addition will assume specific responsi bility for the sale, product development and inter-mill coordination of automatic blanket shells. The appointment, effective October 27, was announced by Frederic W. Holt, president of Fieldcrest, a division of Fieldcrest Mills, Inc. NOVEMBER 17, 1958
