YMCA Names Brooks As Physical Director wed in California 1 Harvey Brooks, new physical director at Spray YMCA, gives basketball lesson to Joe Patterson, Mike Taylor, J. W. Horsley, sons of Fieldcresters. Harvey P. Brooks, Jr., of Salisbury, has joined the staff of Consolidated Central YMCA at Spray as the new physical director. He is a graduate of Pfeiffer College, at Misenheimer, where he majored in Physical Education. He has completed a tour of duty as a corporal in the Ma rines, having served as an instructor in sports and recreation with the Eighth Engineers Corps. While in college Mr. Brooks worked as house father in a men’s dormitory and was president of the Physical Edu cation Majors Club. He is qualified to instruct in football, basketball, track. baseball, golf, tennis, wrestling, soccer, and driver’s education. Mr. Brooks is married and he and Mrs. Brooks have two daughters, ages two and four. The family lives at 128 Prospect Avenue, in Leaksville. In Salisbury Mr. and Mrs. Brooks were members of the First Baptist Church and Mr. Brooks was a member of the Salisbury Junior Chamber of Commerce. In discussing Mr. Brooks appoint ment, Paul L. Father works in Bedspread-Karastan shop and mother (June) in Automatic Blanket Wiring. Verornica Diane, five months old, is daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Wade, of Leaksville. Father is in the Navy. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Land and Mr. and Mrs. A. Y. Wade, Jr. Mr. Wade is a weaver at the Bedspread Mill.
