Exemption Changes
Should Be Reported
Changes in the number of exemptions
for Federal and state income tax pur
poses should be reported promptly. All
such changes received by the Payroll
Department in January will be put into
effect. Revised federal exemption cer
tificates received after January 31 will
not be put into effect until July 1.
However, employees should continue
to notify the Payroll Department within
10 days of any change in their depend
ents for federal or state income taxes
such as death, divorce, separation,
births, dependents earning over $600,
etc.
Any overpayment or underpayment of
tax by an employee will always be ad
justed by the income tax division when
the employee files his income tax re
turn for the year.
Forms for completing a revised ex
emption certificate for either state or
federal withholding tax may be ob
tained from the foreman, department
head, or the industrial relations super
visor in your mill area.

Manager of Bedspread Mill;
Other Promotions Made
Several organization changes
at Fieldcrest Mills, effective Jan
uary 1, have been announced by
Robert A. Harris, vice president
in charge of manufacturing.
A. L. Jackson was appointed acting
manager of the Bedspread Mill, in addi
tion to his other duties as assistant to
the vice president of manufacturing.
Frank E. Barron, superintendent of
the Bedspread Mill, was promoted to
assistant manager of the Bedspread
Mill, reporting to Mr. Jackson. W. Giles
Runnings was promoted to superintend
ent of the Bedspread Mill and Joseph
P. Foster was promoted to superintend
ent in charge of the Bedspread Finish
ing Mill, both reporting to Mr. Barron.
Dillard M. Powell, assistant to the
superintendent of the Sheeting Mill,
was promoted to assistant superintend
ent, Sheeting Mill, reporting to Ralph
C. Going, superintendent.
Mr. Barron is a native of Charleston,
S. C., and graduated in textile engineer
ing at Clemson College, Clemson, S. C.
He has had broad training and experi
ence in textile operations, working in
supervisory positions as well as in en
gineering and other staff assignments.
He was with the Monarch Mills, of

It’s That Time Again—
List Your County Taxes
Listing taxes for the year 1961 for
Rockingham County began January 2
and will end February 1.
Those who live in Leaksville Town
ship can list their county taxes at the
Leaksville armory during the entire
month of January.
The listers will be at the Spray Town
Hall January 12 and 13 from 9 a. m. un
til 4:45 p. m. for the convenience of
taxpayers in that area.
The listers will be at the Draper
Town Hall January 16, 17, 18, 19 and
20 from 9 a. m. until 4:45 p. m.
The hours for listing at the Leaks
ville armory will be from 9 a. m. wntil
5 p. m., Monday through Friday atiif
from 9 a. m. until 12 o’clock noon on
Saturday.
