Under the plan, the hospital will be supplied blood through the official Red Cross program and all patients from the Tri-City area will receive their total blood needs at the local hospital, without charge for the blood itself and without having to replace it. The year’s quota for the six Blood mobile visits is 850 pints, an amount considered adequate for the needs at the Morehead Memorial Hospital. The blood collected will be processed at Charlotte and blood and its deriva tives will be supplied the local hospital from the Charlotte Center. A doctor from the Morehead staff and registered nurses will be on duty at all times when the Bloodmobile is in op eration in the Tri-Cities. Donors may give blood every eight to 10 weeks but not more than five times a year. He added that he, too, believed the current difficulties are temporary and that he sees no reason why the general economy and Fieldcrest operations should not improve materially during the last half of 1961. Mr. Whitcomb emphasized that, due to the major improvements and rehabili- tion program which has been sub stantially completed, Fieldcrest plants are more modern than ever and are in an excellent position to profit by any improvement in the general economy.
