Under the plan, the hospital will be

Red Cross program and all patients
from the Tri-City area will receive their
total blood needs at the local hospital,
without charge for the blood itself and
without having to replace it.
The year’s quota for the six Blood

considered adequate for the needs at
the Morehead Memorial Hospital.
The blood collected will be processed
at Charlotte and blood and its deriva

from the Charlotte Center.
A doctor from the Morehead staff and
registered nurses will be on duty at all
times when the Bloodmobile is in op

be between 21 and 59 years of age (18-

with parents’ consent) and must weigh
at least 110 pounds. Donors may give
blood every eight to 10 weeks but not
more than five times a year.

1961 Expected To Be
Good Year For
Whitcomb Discusses Outlook At
Joint Meeting Of Councils;
Sees Gradual Improvement
Fieldcrest operations in 1961
should be better than in 1960 and
as good as in 1959, President
Harold W. Whitcomb told a joint
meeting of the Carolina Coopera

lina Council Thursday evening,
February 23, at the Consolidated
Central Y. M. C. A.
Because of the downturn in business
generally in the last half of 1960, Field

into 1961, Mr. Whitcomb pointed out
that business forecasters expect the sit

few months, and that the year as a
whole should be a favorable one.
He added that he, too, believed the
current difficulties are temporary and
that he sees no reason why the general
economy and Fieldcrest operations
should not improve materially during
the last half of 1961.
Mr. Whitcomb emphasized that, due
to the major improvements and rehabili-
tion program which has been sub
stantially completed, Fieldcrest plants
are more modern than ever and are in
an excellent position to profit by any
improvement in the general economy.
Despite present uncertainties, the fu-
