Included in the group are two broth ers, Charles D. and George S. Harris, who completed 40-year records on the same day. The other 40-year celebrants are Ruth M. Young, Clarence C. Voss, Cyril H. Hudgins. The Harris brothers, natives of Pat rick County, Virginia, began working on the same day, March 8, 1921 in the same department at the old American Warehouse. At present, George is a blanket packager and packer in the Packing Department and Charles is a sheet and pillow case packer in the Sheet Stock Department. President Harold W. Whitcomb visit ed the brothers on their anniversary date to congratulate them on their un usual record and to express the Com pany’s appreciation for their long re cords of service. He presented each of the brothers with the Fieldcrest dia- mond-and-gold 40-year emblem, a gift, and a congratulatory letter. Miss Young completed 40 years on March 14 and was honored in a brief ceremony in which she was presented her 40-year emblem, a gift, and a letter of commendation from President Whitcomb. She is a native of Stokes County. She has worked in the Blanket Cutting and Sewing Department for her entire 40 years with the Com pany. She worked for many years as a folder and has been a sewer since 1947. Mr. Hudgins’ 40th service anniversary comes on March 26, and Mr. Voss’ on March 29. They are to receive awards on their respective anniversary dates. Mr. Voss was born in Guilford Coun ty, and was first employed in the Plant Service Department at the Finishing Mill. He has continued working in that de partment throughout his 40 years of serv ice. In his earlier years with the Com pany he worked as a machinist, but has been an assistant foreman in the Plant __ Service Department since 1944. Mr. Hudgins, a native of Danville, Virginia, has continuous service since March 26, 1921, when he was employed as a fixer in the Spinning Department at the old Lily Mill. He was promoted to assistant foreman in 1928. In 1936, after the mill had convert ed to silk, he worked as a fixer in the Warping Department and later in the Cop ping Department. He was promoted to foreman of the Preparation Depart ment in 1943, and continued as foreman until the Synthetic Fabrics Mill was closed in 1957. He worked briefly as a guard at the Rhode Island and Syn thetic Fabrics warehouses, and since September, 1959, has been a second hand in the Storage and Shipping De partment at the Central Warehouse.
