Scenes At Towel Mill Safety Award Barbecue ¥ '§m m Safety Barbecue (Continued from page one) spoke briefly to congratulate the em ployees and to express the Company’s appreciation for their excellent safety performance. In his talk, Mr. Whitcomb discussed business conditions and the outlook for the next several months. He reviewed the tremendous improvements at the Towel Mill and said he hoped that there 8 could be further modernization of the operations. D. A. Purcell, mill manager, reviewed the safety record of the Towel Mill, pointing out that until an injury oc curred last November, the employees had worked well over three million man-hours without a lost-time injury. He recalled that the Towel Mill, some years ago, accumulated just short of four million man-hours without lost time due to injury—an all-tii^® ^ at Fieldcrest Mills. He urged ^ ployees to work toward a new r® four million man-hours. f ijy Edgar Gordon, foreman and Bleaching, conducted the ^ for attendance prizes.
