Community Fund Holds Annual Meeting Clifford Ball was elected president of the Tri-City Community Fund for 1962 at the organization’s annual member ship meeting January 16 at Consoli dated Central Y.M.C.A. He succeeds W. B. Lucas, legal coun sel for Fieldcrest Mills, who served during the past year. Bransford Edwards and Clinton Frank, director of industrial relations at Field crest, were re-elected first and second ''ice presidents, respectively. T. S. Har- fington was elected third vice president. Richard Robertson was re-elected sec retary and R. E. Stewart was elected treasurer succeeding Vance Reece, of the Fieldcrest Standards Department. Eighteen directors were elected to the board for three-year terms and are as ^llows: T. S. Harrington, Spencer Powell, D. L. Craddock, Lincoln Barton, Warren Wilson, R. A. Harris, Earl Vaughn, J. Ray Lewis, H. T. Bundy, W. B. Lucas, Dr. William McGehee, John Hodges, J. M. Norman, Robert ^oore, Jesse Mize, Richard Robertson, Tonamy Johnson and Jesse Griggs. Drawing inspiration from many * countries, the new series presents designs and colorings to please ;; every taste and to complement '; every trend in decoration. || See “Fashions of the World” by I Fieldcrest on pages four and five Leaksville Employees Give To Bloodmobile Employees of the Bedspread and Karastan mills accounted for a high per centage of the 92 persons who donated blood when the Bloodmobile visited the Leaksville armory January 10. The decline in the number of donors was attributed to a snowfall on the day of the visit. Some 40 persons who sign ed up to contribute blood did not get to the armory. Of the 114 who offered to give blood, 92 were accepted. Most of those not allowed to give were disquali fied because they had donated blood within the past eight weeks. The recruiting of donors was concen trated in the Leaksville area and a large number of those giving blood were em ployees of the Bedspread Mill and the Karastan Rug Mill in Leaksville. Next Visit March 12 The next visit by the Bloodmobile will be Monday, March 12, when the unit will be stationed at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, Spray, from 11 a. m. until 4:30 p. m. Spray residents and persons employed in the mills at Spray will be asked to give blood at that time. B. F. Dun ton, assistant purchasing agent at Fieldcrest who is the local Bloodmobile chairman, said he hoped that the persons who signed up but did not donate blood on the Leaksville visit will give blood when the unit comes to Spray. “Also,” he said, “A substantial num ber of Spray people have received blood (Continued on Page Three) Payroll Dept. Preparing Withholding Statements W-2 Forms, employees’ federal in come tax withholding statements for 1961, and NC-2 Forms for employees in the North Carolina mills are being prepared in the Payroll Department and will be distributed in, the mills to all active employees by the end of the month. The W-2 and NC-2 Forms for persons out sick or laid off will be mailed to them through the United States mail by January 31. Forms will also be sent through the United States mail to all other persons who worked any in 1961 but who are now terminated from the payroll.
