Leaksville Employees
Give To Bloodmobile
Employees of the Bedspread and
Karastan mills accounted for a high per
centage of the 92 persons who donated
blood when the Bloodmobile visited the
Leaksville armory January 10.
The decline in the number of donors
was attributed to a snowfall on the day
of the visit. Some 40 persons who sign
ed up to contribute blood did not get to
the armory. Of the 114 who offered to
give blood, 92 were accepted. Most of
those not allowed to give were disquali
fied because they had donated blood
within the past eight weeks.
The recruiting of donors was concen
trated in the Leaksville area and a large
number of those giving blood were em
ployees of the Bedspread Mill and the
Karastan Rug Mill in Leaksville.
Next Visit March 12
The next visit by the Bloodmobile
will be Monday, March 12, when the
unit will be stationed at St. Luke’s
Episcopal Church, Spray, from 11 a. m.
until 4:30 p. m. Spray residents and
persons employed in the mills at Spray
will be asked to give blood at that time.
B. F. Dun ton, assistant purchasing
agent at Fieldcrest who is the local
Bloodmobile chairman, said he hoped
that the persons who signed up but did
not donate blood on the Leaksville
visit will give blood when the unit
comes to Spray.
“Also,” he said, “A substantial num
ber of Spray people have received blood
