Greenville, Sniiflifield Foremen Visit Here i Foremen and assistant foremen from the Automatic Blanket Plant at Smith- field and the Karastan Spinning Divis ion at Greenville have completed visits to the company’s plants and offices in the Tri-City area. Spending Thursday and Friday, Feb ruary 8 and 9, at the mills were some of the newer supervisors and supervisors who had not previously visited the com pany’s headquarters and the plants here. The purpose of having the men visit was to enable them to see how the com pany conducts its business, to learn more about Fieldcrest and Karastan, and to meet other key men in our organiza tion. The Smithfield men spent much of their time in observing weaving and blanket finishing. The Greenville group gave much of their attention to woolen carding and spinning at the Blanket Mill and to operations at the Karastan Rug Mill. At Karastan, C. B. Warehousing and Shipping; and Mack Johnson, training coordina tor at Automatic Blanket Plant. >. liFbl I i 22 Blanket Weavers On Quality Honor List A total of 22 weavers appear on the quality honor list at the Blanket Mill for the six months ending January 31. Of this number, 15 are plain or dobby weavers and seven are jacquard. Newcomers to the list for the latest period are Goldie Amos, Lucille Carter and Virginia LaPrad, plain or dobby; and Grover Moore, jacquard. The listing of the quality weavers is part of a program at the Blanket Mill designed to emphasize the importance of quality weaving and to give recogni tion for outstanding records. In order to make the quality honor list, a weaver must work for six months without a major quality defect. When a weaver on the list has a ma jor quality defect, his name is dropped. Other weavers are added as they attain six months of quality work. The quality honor list for the six months ending January 31 is shown in the accompanying box. Murphy Fieldcresters Active In Gospel Singing Event A community gospel singing progra^ is scheduled for Sunday, February 25, from 2 p. m. until 4 p. m. at the Boule vard Church of God, Leaksville. Four singing groups will take part> including the Oakaires, of Madison; th® Gospel Trio, Leaksville; the Craft Broth ers, Lewisville; and the Smith Memoria Trio, Ridgeway, Va. The “sing” is sponsored by the youn= people of the church. Herman Mills, the Fieldcrest Quality Control Depart ment, is the program chairman. The Rev.
