Graduates’ Pictures
AGAIN this year The Mill
Whistle will publish pictures of all
employees’ sons and daughters
graduating from a college or uni
versity. We would not like to over
look any of them, but we have
no way of knowing about them
unless the parents tell us.
Parents should send in a pic
ture of the graduate, along with
the graduate’s name, the parents’
names, the name of the college or
university and the degree to be
received.

Wanda Kennon, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Jesse Kennon, was chosen “Miss
Draper Junior High, 1962” in the an
nual beauty pageant May 19 sponsored
by the Draper Lions Club.
Her father is a weaver at the Blanket
Mill and her mother, Doris Kennon, is
employed in the Quilling Department at
the Sheeting Mill.

Makes Good Catch
Mike Spears, 15, recently caught a
Rainbow Trout 18 inches long, said to be
one of the largest ever caught in Smith
River at Fieldale, Va.
Mike, an ardent fisherman, is son of
Mr. and Mrs. S. B. Spears, of Koehler,
Va. His father is a weaver at the Towel
Mill.

Smithfield Twins
Mickey Ann and Vickie Jan are twin
daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Billy Talton
of Smithfield and grandchildren of
Louise Moser who is employed in the
Control Assembly Department at the
Automatic Blanket Plant.

Sheet Finishing Mill
Will Hold Open House
All Fieldcrest employees, their fami
lies and friends and the general public
are invited to visit the Sheet Finishing
Mill during “open house” Thursday,
May 31, from 1:30 p. m. imtil 8:30 p. m.
Production and warehousing facilities
of the mill will be on display and
guests will be able to see the production
equipment in operation. A number of
door prizes, consisting of Fieldcrest
products, will be awards.
All sheet and pillow case sewing,
packaging and warehousing operations
were consolidated a few months ago in
the Nantucket Building where the first
floor is used for manufacturing and
the second and third floors for the
warehousing operations.

Patricia Cecelia Hairston is daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Barnard Hairston and
a member of this year’s graduating
class at Douglass High School. She
plans to attend North Carolina College
at Durham this fall. Her father is em
ployed in the Sheeting Mill Weave
Room.
