Employee And Wife Vacation In Mexico City Roy Seay, of the Accounting Depart ment, and his wife, a teacher at Leaks- ville Graded School, have recently re turned from a week’s vacation in Mexico City. It was the fourth trip Mrs. Seay has won in a Write-Right paper com pany contest. They returned by way of Santa Clara, California, where they visited a daughter (Mrs. Sue Tounger) and two grandchildren. Making the entire trip by air, they reported wonderful flying experiences on the way to Mexico City and about half way back. But on the last part of their return home they were greatly in convenienced by the Eastern Airlines strike. During their week in Mexico City they did much sightseeing, went to several night clubs and attended a bullfight (which they did not enjoy). They agreed that the most enjoyable feature of their stay in Mexico City was their visit to On The Job At Fieldcrest John B. Hairston is a picker tender at the Blanket Mill. He operates ma chines which loosen and clean the cotton or other fiber and make it into laps to run on the cotton cards. On his job, he must watch the weight of the laps to make sure they are on standard. He must continually keep an eye on the conveyor feed belt to prevent choke-ups which would cause a loss in production. Since he runs four different fibers, cotton, rayon, orlon and acrilan, he must clean his machines thoroughly each time he changes from one fiber to another. John is a native of Walnut Cove and has close to 27 years of continuous service with Fieldcrest Mills. He has a good record in the Cotton Carding De partment where he is known as an ef ficient and cooperative worker. the Fine Arts Building where they saw a ballet depicting the history of Mexico. They were much interested in old buildings such as monasteries and ca thedrals and were impressed by their visit to the centuries-old Our Lady of Guadalupe Cathedral where President Kennedy worshipped on his recent trip to Mexico City. Among the interesting side trips, the Seays greatly enjoyed their visits to the government - operated silver mines at Taxco and to the resort city of Cuenar- vaco, where the temperature remains approximately 70 degrees the year around. Mr. and Mrs. Seay came tiack via Los Angeles and San Francisco and then to Santa Clara to visit their daughter. They reported that their visit with the Toung- ers to Yosemite National Park and the world-famous falls was a highlight of the entire vacation trio. JOHN B.
