Slaughter Is Promoted To Assistant Foreman Traffic ClubFre^ident Kenneth Slaughter (left), new assist ant foreman, goes over a report with Roy Thompson, foreman. Napping De partment. Kenneth L. Slaughter, second hand in the Finishing Mill Napping Department, has been promoted to assistant foreman in the Napping Department, third shift. A native of Leaksville, Mr. Slaughter was first employed in October, 1957 as a clerk at the Employees Store. He was transferred to the Finishing Mill as a dispatcher-printed goods in February, 1959, and a few months later was ap pointed a supervisory trainee. He was promoted to second hand in November, 1960 and continued to serve in that capacity until his most recent promotion. Heads C. U. Chapter Fred Burton, of the Fieldcrest Mills Industrial Relations Department, has been elected president of the North Piedmont Chapter of Credit Unions which embraces seven counties and in cludes 45 credit unions. Mr. Burton served as vice president in 1962. A Rockingham County native, he has been with Fieldcrest since .June, 1958. Ernest W. Sams, traffic manager at Fieldcrest Mills, has been elected presi-,, dent of the Burlington Traffic Club," comprised of approximately 100 indus trial traffic managers and representa tives of motor carriers, railroads and airlines in North Carolina, South Caro lina and Virginia. The purpose of the organization is to better the relationship between the in dustries and the carriers in the world of transportation. Other officers are; D. C. Morrow, sales representative, McLean Trucking Com pany, Winston-Salem, first vice-presi- dent; Norman Aired, traffic manager, Western Electric Company, Burlington, second vice president; and W. F. Henley, southern traffic manager, Burlington Industries, Greensboro, secretary. Mr. Sams had served as a director and as second vice president and first vice president before his election as president. He is a native of Tennessee and a graduate of the University of Tennessee where he majored in traffic and trans portation. Prior to joining Fieldcrest in September 1956, he was associated with the Southern Motor Carriers Rate Conference, a tariff publishing agency in Atlanta, Georgia; was an assistant in the Traffic Department of Akers Motor Lines, Gastonia; and was traffic manager for the American and Efird Mills at Mt. Holly. Mr. Sams is a charter member and a director of the Lynchburg, Va., chapter of Delta Nu Alpha, transportation fra ternity; a member of the Private Truck Council of America, Washington, D. C.; and of Textile Traffic Managers, Atlan ta, Georgia. He was employed in the Leaksville Cost Department and the Data Processing Department at the General Offices be fore he was transferred to the Industrial Relations Department in November, 1960, as an administrative assistant as signed primarily to Credit Union duties.
