BERTHA P. GRIFFIN JOHN T. TOLBERT CABELL S. GRAHAM MOIR C. PADGETT Four Complete 45- Year Records January 1, 1S64, marked the 45th an niversary of continuous service for two employees each from the Bedspread and Towel Mills. Completing 45-year records were Bertha P. Griffin and John T. Tolbert, of the Bedspread Mill, and Moir C. Padgett and Cabell S. Graham, of the Towel Mill. Each of the veteran employees was presented the Fieldcrest 45-year service pin, a gift and a letter of commendation from President Harold W. Whitcomb. Mrs. Griffin was born in Patrick County, Virginia and was first employed by the company January 1, 1919. She has worked in the same department at the same mill throughout her many years of service and has been a winder or spooler hand for most of her 45 years. Mr. Tolbert was born in Pittsylvania County, Va., and likewise was first em ployed January 1, 1919. He has worked in the Bedspread Spinning Department for the entire time and has worked as a doffer during ail of the 45 years He has never been off of the payroll for any reason since he came to work. Mr. Graham, a native of Patrick County, Va., has worked at the Towel Mill continuously since January 1 1919 He worked for a short while as a doffer in the Spinning Department but for almost 40 years was a warp twister Since 1960 he has worked as a frame- oiler-tape man. Mr. Padgett was born in Stokes Coun ty and was employed at the Towel Mill January 1, 1919. He worked as a quill hauler for a time but was a weaver during most of his 45 years of service He continues to work as a weaver at the present time. Both Mr. Graham and Mr. Padgett have worked 45 years without being of' of the payroll for any reason. Also both of them had a part in the construcUon of the Towel Mill building. Mr. Padgett worked as a water boy during the con struction and Mr. Graham as a bellows operator in the blacksmith shop.
