Jackie Manuel’s mother, Mrs. Annie Manuel, is a weaver at the Sheet ing Mill in Draper, and Robert Myrick’s mother, Juanita S. Byrd, is an office clerk at the Automatic Blanket Plant, Smithfield. Donald Rhodes’ father is a laboratory technician in the Research and Quality Control Department, Spray, and Miss Stowe’s father is a napper op erator at the Finishing Mill, Spray. Both of Andy Evans’ parents are em ployees of Muscogee Mills, Columbus, Ga. His father is a doffer and his mother (Mollie Carter Evans) is a spinner. The latest grants make a total of 15 scholarships that have been granted by the Fieldcrest Foundation since the pro gram was started in 1960. The first re cipients are to graduate this June. Linda WUkinson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Wilkinson of Fieldale, Va., is to graduate from Richmond Profes sional Institute with a major in com mercial art and Jerry Jenkins, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Jenkins, of Ridge way, Va., will graduate from the Uni versity of Richmond where he majored in chemistry. Linda’s father is foreman of the Plant Service Department at the Towel Mill and Jerry’s father is a twister opera tor at the Bedspread Mill. Both the Fieldcrest and the Muscogee Foundation scholarships are now worth $2400 over the four years of college at tendance. Recipients are chosen on the basis of their academic aptitude, good citizenship and leadership, and the need for financial assistance in obtaining a college education.
