Hance Speaks To Bedspread Group
25-Year Club Meeting Well Attended
One of the newest members of the
^leldcrest organization addressed some
company’s oldest employees when
j I'- L. H. Hance, division vice president
for
the
research and engineering, spoke at
recent annual meeting of 25-Year
^lub members from the Bedspread and
sdspread Finishing Mills.
Dr. Hance, former president of the In-
^Wtute of Textile Technology who joined
leldcrest in September, 1964, recalled
hat he took his first job in the textile
f>dustry 25 years ago.
He cited the tremendous changes in
World since that time and told of
great technological improvements
r
that have been made in every field.
The textile industry in particular, he
said, has made spectacular advances in
all phases of its activities, production,
merchandising, management and so on.
Dr. Hance described Fieldcrest as an
outstanding example of a progressive
and forward-looking organization. He
recalled that in his career he had had
an opportunity to observe the top com
panies in the industry. He said he chose
to join Fieldcrest because he considered
it the “leader among all of them.”
W. G. Hunnings, superintendent of the
Bedspread Mill, was master of cere
monies for the program held in the
auditorium at Burton Grove School.
J. P. Foster, superintendent of the
Bedspread Finishing Mill, made a brief
talk and F. E. Barron, manager of the
Bedspread and Bedspread Finishing
Mills, reported on bedspread operations.
Jones W. Norman, industrial relations
representative, conducted the drawings
for attendance prizes. Winners were
Howard Fargis, Winding, Queen’s Rose
bedspread; and W. L. Edwards, retiree,
Imperial Rose bedspread.
S. T. Anderson, retired superintendent
of the Bedspread Mill, gave the invoca
tion preceding a luncheon served in the
school cafeteria.
