Fixer’s ‘Centennial’ Beard Attracts Attention Tony Larkins, a Sheeting Mill loom- fixer who lives in Danville, Va., has joined many more Danville men in growing a beard in connection with Danville’s Civil War Centennial cele bration to be held in April. Tony’s heavy, black beard has the approval of his wife and his two sons. In fact, his young sons begged him to grow a beard because they saw other men with beards. Tony said his beard has attracted a great deal of attention at work and at other times when he has THE MILL WHISTLE gone outside of Danville. The most amusing experience took place recently when he visited Richmond, Va., and was mistaken for a beatnik. Admiring the beard above are Aldean Whitt (left) and Brenda Noles, both of the Blanket Mill Inspecting Department. Copyright, 1965, Fielderest Mills, Inc. Spray, N. C. Most people think well of them selves. They would probably hire them selves for any job within the limits of their experience, or maybe even outside of it. But you might find, if you ana lyze yourself honestly, that you fall short in at least some of the traits that make for a good em ployee. You might ask yourself if you are genuinely interested in the job. And if you can work well with others. Can you stick to a job? Are you conscientious? Do you want to learn about your work and your company? Are you serious about trying to make your job more productive? Are you willing to lend a hand to a fellow-employee? Are you dependable? Do you re port for work regularly? It could be, of course, that you’re especially gifted, or per haps unusually intelligent. But if you’re not, you’ll still do all right if you can answer ‘yes’ to the few questions above. And should you have any of these high gifts, they will shine through with all the greater bril liance if you’ve given all “yes” answers in this basic little test. ^ ’ fmERVICE (^^fANNIVERS ARIES Leona Smith, of the Bedspread with 45 years, heads the list of empwr ees saluted in this issue of The Whistle for their continuous ' Congratulations are in order to M* Smith and the other employees nam® below, who have recently observed D® able anniversaries of continuous servi with the company.
