C„ May 3, 1965 NO. 21 Garden Clubs Sponsor Local Beautification “Tri-Cities Beauty Is Everyone’s ^uty” is the slogan for the clean-up 3nd beautification campaign now under ''[ay under sponsorship of the Leaks- ville-Spray Council of Garden Clubs. . Every householder and businessman in the Tri-Cities is being asked to co operate in the attainment of the goal of bringing out the natural beauty of Leaksville-Spray-Draper and the su burban areas. The campaign has the following three *'^ain objectives: 1. Civic improvement and develop- ftient. 2. Enhancement of the natural beauty Of the Tri-City area. 3. A campaign to urge every person become anti-litter. The campaign has been endorsed by mayors of Leaksville, Draper and ^Pray, and by other officials, civic clubs, ®t^hools and interested individuals. The ^ocal effort is a part of the national '^lean-up and beautfication campaign in J^hich a half-million Garden Club mem- ®rs are participating. Paul L. Golden Honored For 50 Years’ Service Stuart L. Golden, head of the Bank ing and Payrolls Department, Spray, was guest of honor at a luncheon at Meadow Greens Country Club Tuesday, April 20, in recognition of his having STUART L. GOLDEN completed 50 years with the company. President Harold W. Whitcomb pre sented Mr. Golden with the Fieldcrest diamond-and-gold 50-year pin, a gift and other remembrances. Mr. Whitcomb, R. A. Harris, vice president, manufacturing, and R. R. Roberts, vice president, finance, made brief talks praising Mr. Golden’s loyalty and cooperation through the years. Haven H. Newton, acting director of industrial relations, introduced the oth er 50-year employees attending: W. A. Blackburn, retired from the Mechanical Development Department; A. D. Weav er, retired from Synthetic Fabrics Mill; Cora H. Rickman, retired from Blanket Mill; Mack Overby, retired from Blank et Mill; H. T. Lee, retired from Kara- stan Mill; J. T. Patterson, employed at Finishing Mill; and Betty H. Ratliff, re tired from the Spray Cost Department. O. F. Ferguson, who retired from Sheeting Mill; and Miss Mollie Lea and Miss Annie Lea, both retired from the Synthetic Fabrics Mill, were absent.
