Blanket Mill Progress Reviewed
Fieldcrest is at the forefront in the
blanket business and has made remark
able progress in the blanket operation
in the past 15 years, G. William Moore,
president of Fieldcrest Mills, Inc., told
members of the 25-Year Club from the
Blanket Operation and the General Of
fices at their recent luncheon meeting.
Mr. Moore traced the history of the
Blanket Mill’s business since the pur
chase of the mills by the present owners
in 1953 and told of Fieldcrest’s dra
matic growth since that time.
He reviewed the operating results of
the company for the first nine months
of this year. He said that, while sales
and gross profit were up, virtually all
of the costs of doing business are up,
leaving a relatively small amount for
growth, modernization and new ma
chinery.
He discussed the rapid population
growth in the United States and the
world and described some of the prob
lems as well as the opportunities result
ing from the rapid increase in the popu
lation.
Looking ahead five years, Mr. Moore
predicted the company will continue to
grow, with expected internal growth and
acquisitions.
Norman F. Young, manager of the
Blanket Operation, was master of cere
monies and presented the 45 new mem
bers who became eligible for the 25-
Year Club this year. He expressed ap
preciation for the contribution the 25-
Year Club members have made to the
success of the company.
“The success of Fieldcrest Mills has
been brought about by its people—par
ticularly those who have been with the
company for many years. It has been
largely the faithful, dependable, long-
service employees who have made if'®
company the success that it is,”
Young declared.
