Miss America Visits Store Maria Beale Fletcher (center), Miss America 1962, who was at Eden recent ly to emcee the Miss Eden beauty pageant, is shown during her visit to the Fieldcrest Store. Sandra Pence Named Associate Editor Sandra Pence joined Fieldcrest in No vember as associate editor of The Mill Whistle. This is her first job on a com pany publication, but she had been in newspaper work for the previous four years. Miss Pence came here from Wilming ton, N. C. where she worked for the daily newspaper. Prior to that she work ed on a weekly newspaper in her home town of Manassas, Va. She has also worked as a secretary and an elemen tary school teacher. A graduate of Virginia Intermont College in Bristol, Va., she is the daugh ter of Mrs. A. L. Pence of Wilmington and the late Mr. Pence. She has a sister in Colorado and a brother in Arizona. SANDRA PENCE Credit Union Will Pay Another 5% Dividend Members of the Fieldcrest Mills Credit Union in all locations will receive a 5 per cent per annum dividend, figured on their average monthly balances and credited to each member’s share account as of December 31, 1968. The dividend was raised to 5 per cent as of January 1, 1968. The Credit Union has never paid less than 4 per cent per annum on savings. The first increase was from 4 per cent to 4V4 per cent effective January 1, 1965. The rate was increased to iVz per cent June 30, 1966. All Credit Union offices will observe the following closing dates for Christ mas and New Year’s Day. The Eden area Credit Union will be closed from December 23 through Jan uary 1, with the exception of December 26 when it will be open. The following Credit Unions will be closed from December 20 through Jan uary 1; North Carolina Finishing, Win chester, Alexander, Mount Holly, Lau- relcrest and Greenville. The following will be closed Decem ber 23 through January 1: Foremost, Worthville, Nye-Wait, Columbus Towel, and Fieldale Towel. Mrs. Harris, a native of Rockinghaid County, was first employed in W Spooling Department at the Bedspr®n Mill December 10, 1928.
