Group Tours Karastan Mill

The Karastan Rug Mill was recently
toured by over 100 extension homemak
ers from Wake County.
The women, traveling by bus, came in
two groups—one in the morning and one
in the afternoon. They were all from
in and around Raleigh, representing
nearly every city and town in Wake
County.
Mrs. Sara Casper, home economics
agent in Wake County, led the after
noon group. She said they have been
studying rugs and carpets in the ex
tension program this year, which was
the particular reason they wanted to
tour the Karastan mill.
Jones Norman, personnel manager at
Karastan, welcomed the group and gave
a brief talk. The women were then di
vided into smaller groups and guides
took them on tours of the entire facili
ties, explaining the operations and tell
ing them how the Karastan rugs and
carpets are designed and manufactured.
