C. Richard Hill Promoted To Asst. Foreman Post ROBERT L. HAMILTON WALTER F. GRIFFITH Hamilton And Griffith Receive Promotions In organization changes at the Sheet ing Mill effective January 1, Robert L. Hamilton was appointed foreman of the Weave Room and Walter F. Grif fith was named assistant foreman in the same department. Mr. Hamilton previously was a tech nical assistant at the Sheeting Mill and earlier was an assistant foreman in the Carding and Spinning Department at the Bedspread Mill. He has a back ground of experience as a supervisor with a number of textile companies in North and South Carolina. He is a native of Greenville, S. C., and served as an infantry officer during World War II. Mr. Griffith, a long-service employee of the Sheeting Weave Room, worked on various production jobs in that de partment and was a loomfixer for over 20 years before he was promoted to assistant foreman. He is a native of Rockingham County and served with the Army for over three years during World War II. NC Textile Industry Advanced During '60s (Continued from Page One) Looking to the next decade, he point ed out that the North Carolina textile industry, as well as the entire U. S. textile industry, is tied to the general economy of the country and will be affected by it. The cost-price squeeze is having its effect generally, he said, and the tex tile industry is no exception. Another major problem affecting the textile industry has been the tremend ous rise of textile imports. As an ex ample he pointed out that in 1960 im ports valued at $556 million came into this country, while the estimate for 1969 is $2.1 billion. The federal government has been ask ed to bring about some relief on the im port problem, he said, and develop ments in the last few months are cause for some optimism on that score. Because the textile industry has made progress during the closing dec ade, Mr. Twitty said he feels it is in a stronger position to meet and to solve its problems provided the imports sit uation is brought under control and as long as the general economy remains stable. 8 Buy - Sell - Swap FOR SALE: One wringer washing ma chine, one Polaroid J66 camera.
