Larry Giles Is Awarded Eagle Scout Badge
Larry C. Giles, 14, received his Eagle
Scout Award in ceremonies recently at
Saint Andrews Methodist Church, Pen
sacola, Fla. Larry is a member of Troop
638 sponsored by the church and a
member of the Order of the Arrow.
He also holds the God and Country
Award. He is a ninth grader at Pensa-

was employed at the General Offices
for several years before moving to

Larry is the grandson of Mr. and
Mrs. W. D. Giles, of Miami, formerly of
Eden. Mr. Giles retired from the Blanket
Mill in 1965. Larry’s other grandpar
ents, Mr. and Mrs. W. G. Hill, live in
Eden.

Marvin E. Brinkley, who is attend
ing the University of North Carolina at
Chapel Hill on a Fieldcrest Scholarship,
was on the Dean’s List for the first
semester. He is majoring in mathe
matics and is a sophomore. His father,
O. J. Brinkley, is employed in the Dye
No. 1 Department at the North Carolina
Finishing Company division at Salis
bury.
