In recent organization changes at the
Blanket Mill, Veril G. Jones was ap
pointed an assistant foreman in the
Wool Carding Department and Harry
C. Collins, Jr., was named an assistant
foreman in the Cotton Carding De
partment.
Mr. Jones has continuous service
with the Company since 1947 and has
worked on numerous production jobs
in the Wool Spinning and Wool Carding
Departments. He was a grinder-over
hauler and a card fixer for several
years and most recently worked as a
dye house fixer and as a maintenance
mechanic in the Wool Carding Depart
ment. He is a native of Eden.
Mr. Collins is a native of Danville,
Va., and was a supervisor at Dan River
Mills for several years before joining
Fieldcrest.

Pfc. Clarence Austin
Is Serving In Vietnam
PFC Clarence A. Austin is serving
with the Army in Vietnam with his
tour of duty there due to end in De
cember, 1970. His wife Carolyn G. Aus
tin, and his mother, Annie M. Austin,
both are employed in the Drape De
partment at the Bedspread Finishing
Mill.
For friends who wish to write, the
J. Carroll Riggan, formerly in Quali
ty Control at the Laurelcrest Carpet
Mill, has been promoted to training co
ordinator for the Laurelcrest Carpet
Mill, Yarn Mill, and Service Center at
Laurel Hill.
His job will include developing
training plans for each department,
training instructors to carry out these
plans, and creating better methods for
plans that have already been made.
Prior to joining Fieldcrest Mills, Mr.
Riggan attended Pembroke State Uni
versity as a business administration
major.
Mr. Riggan’s wife, Jennifer, is a reg
istered nurse. They have a son, Chris,
age eight months, and live in Hamlet.
