Members of the Promenade Club are
shown above enjoying an evening of
western style square dancing at the
Central YMCA, Eden.
The Promenade Club meets every
Saturday night from September until
May. (Dancing is suspended during the
summer months because there are no air
conditioned facilities available in this
area.)
Members include Fieldcresters from
Fieldale as well as from the local area
and the dances draw visitors from
Roanoke, Rocky Mount, Collinsville,
Randleman, Winston - Salem and
Greensboro. Recently a Japanese cou
ple, visiting locally, attended.
Garland King of Burlington calls the
dances and does some teaching. His
wife. Flora King, teaches classes in
round dancing
Workshops, which are advanced
teaching sessions, are scheduled period
ically. These give the dancers a chance
to learn new techniques from profes
sional callers. Following Square Dance
Week (September 7-13) beginning class

At its last meeting the Promenade
Club was officially accepted into the
North Carolina Folk and Square Dance
