Organization Changes Announced A full program of festivities for e®' ployees and their families will cel®' brate the 10th anniversary of the tomatic Blanket Plant at Smithfi®* ^ Saturday, June 13—10 years to the da) from the date the plant began opera' tions. The celebration will get under with a picnic for employees and the’ families on the front lawn of the i®* ’ The picnic will be followed by tours of the mill for employees af* their families. During the tours, about 40 of ^ mili’s 500 employees will be at the* work stations to describe their jobs a” to explain how automatic blankets a made. The employees chosen for thcs assignments will be senior employ^® on the operations. A fashion show presenting crea' tions W. Fred Robertson has been appoint ed assistant superintendent of the Bian- ket Mill with responsibility for the cot ton system, slashing, weaving, inspect ing, and shipping and receiving. He re ports to William F. Crumley, superin tendent of the Blanket Mill. Mr. Robertson formerly was with Beaunit Textiles as cost accountant, production planning manager, depart ment head of winding, and superintend ent of weaving at the Rockingham plant. Immediately prior to joining Field- crest he was superintendent of spinning at Beaunit’s Clinton plant. He is a na tive of Halifax County and received his B. S. degree with a major in mathe matics from East Carolina University. In other organization changes at the Blanket Mill, John W. Cassell, section foreman in Wool Picking, was named foreman of Shipping and Receiving to replace M. Booker Newman who will retire July 1; W. Russell Cobb, assist ant foreman in Wool Spinning, was ap pointed section foreman, Wool Picking, replacing Mr. Cassell; Boyce B. Barbee, Bedspread Mill section foreman in weaving, was transferred to the Blanket Mill as section foreman in weaving, replacing Wilford J. Overby, who re signed. Mr. Cassell, an Eden native, was first employed at the Blanket Mill in 1950 and worked in the Wool Carding De partment and in the Weave Room. He was dispatcher of finished goods at the Blanket Finishing Mill for several years and in 1960 became a clerk in the Wool Picking Department at the Blanket Mill. He was appointed an assistant foreman in 1962 and became a section foreman in 1969. from Fieldcrest products will folio'"' in the Wiring Department in the of the mill. A product display arranged by Jot)!’ Mr. Cobb joined Fieldcrest as a sup ervisory trainee in 1966 and was ap pointed assistant foreman in the Weav ing and Slashing Department in 1967. He became an assistant foreman in the Wool Spinning Department in July, 1968 and continued in that position un til his latest appoinment. Mr. Barbee, previously a weave room supervisor with Pacific Mills in Colum bia, S. C. for 12 years, joined the Bed spread Mill as an assistant foreman in the Weave Room in 1965. He was fore man of the Weave Room for a time and later was section foreman. Buckner of the Fieldcrest Store at Ed will be on view in the Supply Dep®’ ment.
