Women’s Softball League Concludes Season UNC-G Graduate Four Fieldcrest teams participated in the Women’s and Girl’s Softball League sponsored by the Central YMCA. They were Karastan Office, Bedspread Fin ishing Office, Bedspread Finishing Mill and Karastan Sales Service. These teams took third, fourth, fifth and sixth places respectively in the double-elemi- nation tournament play-offs. Draper YMCA and Spray Cotton Mills tied for first place in the regular sea son with 11 wins and one loss each. Draper YMCA defeated Spray Cotton Mills in the tournament to become tour nament champions. There will be a play-off between these two teams today, August 10, to determine the regular season winner. Riding In Style Pictured left are Walter N. Cook, (left) and Sidney Somers out for a ride in Mr. Cook’s pony cart. Mr. Cook, a retired merchant, is the father of Mrs. Loretta Washburn of the Blanket Warehouse office. Mr. Somers is a retired employee of the Blanket Finishing Mill. Mr. Somers and Mr. Cook are neigh bors and recently Mr. Somers stopped by to admire Joey, who was being groomed. The two men decided to take a ride in the pony cart and their tour through the streets of Eden caused a great deal of interest. Judy Ann Shelton is a recent ate of UNC-G with a B.A. degr®* biology and life science. She daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Shelton.
