Two Are Honored For Long Service Records
Howard T. Edwards of the Blanket
Mill and James H. Nelson of the Draper
Sheeting Mill have completed 40-year
records of continuous service with the
company. Each has been presented the
Fieldcrest 40-year service pin and a
letter of commendation from G. Wil
liam Moore, president and chairman of
Fieldcrest Mills, Inc.
Mr. Edwards, a native of Vesta, Va.,
has continuous service since September
29, 1930, when he began working in
the Sheeting Mill Spinning Depart
ment. Since that time he has worked at
various jobs in the Sheeting, Bedspread
and Blanket Mill.
In 1960 he became a doffer in the
Cotton Spinning Department of the
Blanket Mill and continues in that
classification.
Mr. Nelson was employed as a roving
man in the Sheeting Mill September
24, 1930. He became an oiler in the
Spinning Department in 1943 and works
in that capacity at the present time.
He is a native of Caswell County.
G. L. Caraway Heads Cancer Society Unit

Stermer, Jr.; second vice president,
Harry A. Copenhaver, Jr.; secretary,
Mrs. F. Paul Turner, Jr.; and treasurer,
G. S. Fitz-Hugh, Jr.
Various officials, chairmen and vol
unteers were recognized lor their ef
forts in the recent successful Crusade
during which the goal of $23,582 was
raised. Mr. Copenhaver, 1970 Crusade
chairman, presented the awards to
volunteers.
Mr. Caraway, the new president, is
active in various civic affairs at Field-
ale and Martinsville. He is president
of the Piedmont Tuberculosis and Res
piratory Disease Association, an execu
tive of the local Red Cross chapter, a
member of the Chamber of Commerce,
a Mason, Shriner and Rotarian.
George L. Caraway, manager of
warehousing and customer service at
the Fieldale Towel Mill, has been
named president of the Martinsville-
Henry County unit of the American
Cancer Society.
