The Karastan Marketing Division has announced the appointment effective November 1 of George H. Kim as na tional contract manager, a new post. In making the announcement, John F. Deery, vice president of sales in the Karastan Marketing Division, said; “The establishment of a formal contract sales department is further evidence of Kar- astan’s total commitment to the com mercial carpet market. “Since 1928 Karastan has held an im portant and prestigious position in the residential carpet market as a style in novator and producer of quality pro ducts. We are now moving toward a similar status in the fast-expanding con tract market. Our marketing approach es are more aggressive and pin-pointed, and we are rapidly beefing up our con tract product mix and merchandising programs.” Mr. Kim has been Karastan’s terri tory manager for Texas and Oklahoma since 1967. He joined the company in 1959 and was named a sales representa tive for the Rocky Mountain territory in 1963, Mr. Kim, who currently re sides with his family in the Dallas area, will move to Karastan’s sales head quarters in New York. He will report to Mr. Deery. Mr. Deery also announced the follow ing moves; Edward W. Zimmerman, formerly territory manager for Karastan in Wisconsin, Indiana and parts of Ill inois, has been transferred to the Dallas area succeeding Mr. Kim. Douglas A. Marlowe, a Karastan sales service representative covering the Chicago and Midwest area, has been tjf assigned to Mr. Zimmerman’s t®””’ Allan Robertson, who has Karastan sales service represen covering the West Coast, has named manager of a new territorl,, eluding Arizona and parts of son' California and Nevada.
