Laverne Hinson, an account repre sentative in the Accounts Receivable Department, was elected lieutenant gov ernor of Area One of the North Caro lina District East of Civitan Internation al at the N. C. District covention held in New Bern May 14 and 15. Mr. Hinson, who is just completing a one-year term as president of the Eden Civitan club, will assume responsibilities as lieutenant governor on July 1. District East is divided into> seven areas with Area One covering Rock ingham county and parts of Guilford county. It includes a total of 10 clubs. Mr. Hinson will act as a liaison between each of the local clubs and Civitan In ternational. Larry David Hill, a member of the graduating class at Fieldale-Collinsville High School, was presented the Dis tinguished Service Award for the most outstanding work in a non-athletic ca pacity. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack B. Hill. Mr. Hill is a foreman at the Fieldale Towel Mill and Mrs. HiU was formerly employed in the Mill Account ing Department there. Larry plans to enter the Shenandoah Conservatory of Music this fall. Sams are shown as they observed their 50th wed ding anniversary at the Holiday Inn in their hometown of Oak Ridge, Tenn. A reception was held for the family and friends with approximately 60 persons attending. Mr. and Mrs. Sams are the parents of Ernest W. Sams, general traffic man ager of Fieldcrest Mills, Inc., Eden. Nancy Elizabeth Lawson, member of the graduating class at Morehead High School, was awarded a Russell Byrd Memorial Scholarship. She plans to attend Appalachian State University. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Lawson, of Eden. Mrs. Lawson ‘(Betty) is employed at the Bedspread Finishing Office as an order release clerk. James Lewis Eanes, Jr., feur old, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Eanes. Mr. Eanes is employed in the Kar- astan Weave Room and Mrs. Eanes (Joan) works in the Data Processing De partment, General Offices.
